Hair loss has been a widespread concern for both men and women for decades. At Enriched Aesthetics, we offer PRP hair restoration, using the “SELPHYL” Process to all patients for those who suffer from hair loss due to a condition known as androgenetic alopecia (AGA)
What Is PRP Hair Restoration and The Selphyl Process?
PRP consists of growth factors taken directly from a small sample of your blood. Your provider will draw this sample each treatment session. This sample of blood is then placed in a centrifuge where it is spun down. This process will remove red blood cells (void of growth factors) leaving only the rich plasma which contains all the growth factors necessary to stimulate hair regrowth. Your provider will refer to this as “Liquid Gold”
How PRP Encourages Hair Regrowth
With the reintroduction of your own platelet rich plasma (PRP) or in this case, Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM), there is a release of growth factors and cytokines (fancy term for cell division) and it occurs in the process of tissue growth and repair.
Your provider will discuss treatment details with you during your consultation, 3-4 monthly PRP/PRFM injections (1 session every month for 3 months) is typical.
Anticipated results will include a positive change in hair density and volume. Results may vary based on your lifestyle though during your consultation your provider may discuss combining PRP treatments alongside traditional therapies for optimal results.
How Long Does The Treatment Take?
The entire procedure will take approximately 30-40 minutes to perform using the SELPHYL Process.
Is The Treatment Painful?
Unlike other modalities on the market, the SELPHYL Process is more pH balanced allowing for improved post treatment comfort. As with any injection, there is mild discomfort, though well tolerated by most.
Are There any Side Effects?
According to current literature there have not been any known side effects associated with the use of Selphyl. As with any injection there may be mild discomfort at the injection site, temporary swelling and tenderness.
What Should I Do After My PRP Hair Restoration Sessions?
The use of PRP and the process of injecting within the areas of thinning hair, creates an inflammatory response within your body. This is what we want to occur, this is when the magic happens! Your body is now releasing growth factors and helper cells to the area of hair loss, encouraging new growth. We do not want to stop this phenomenon!
Your provider will have you avoid all anti-inflammatory medications such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve, or prednisone 5 days before each session and 5 days post treatment.
Your provider will encourage you to avoid washing your hair for 24 hours and avoid vigorous exercise for optimal results.
