DO YOU NEED FILLER CORRECTION FROM YOUR DERMAL FILLERS?

Have you considered taking action to reduce fine lines, folds, and wrinkles on your skin? Patients often come to us for dermal fillers, but there are times when they are unhappy with the results. When you feel that your fillers are overdone or the product has migrated, you may need filler correction.

Keep reading to learn more about how dermal fillers work and your options for a correction.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

There are several products on the market designed to minimize the effects of aging on facial skin. If you’re noticing more furrows and folds or a loss of volume in certain parts of your face, then you might be a good candidate for dermal fillers.

These injections most often consist of a dose of hyaluronic acid, a natural ingredient found in the body. Dermal fillers are a minimally invasive way to treat fine lines and wrinkles and can perform such functions as:

  • Adding volume to the lips
  • Reducing crow’s feet, brow lines, and laugh lines
  • Minimizing lip lines and nasolabial folds
  • Boosting volume in the cheeks or temples

Fillers contain hyaluronic acid, but they also work to pump up the body’s production of collagen in the treatment areas for long-lasting results. Many times, dermal fillers can be effective for up to two years, depending on the brand used.

It takes just a few minutes to apply these injections and there’s no downtime associated with them.

Why Would Someone Want a Correction for Dermal Fillers?

Many of our patients come to us having already received dermal fillers in the past, but they are no longer satisfied with the results. Dermal fillers are an effective option for adding volume to the face, and they are a very popular treatment option.

However, there are times when they don’t yield the exact results the patient was hoping for. Fortunately, filler correction is a possibility with new products on the market.

What can happen to dermal fillers that might have you considering filler revision? This treatment might be right for you if you had dermal fillers and feel that the area where they were injected was overfilled. If you feel hard lumps or notice that your product has migrated beyond the initial treatment area, filler correction may be a good fit for you.

How Does Filler Correction Work?

At Enriched Aesthetics, we use a product called Hylenex for filler correction. This product is another type of injection known to dissolve the original filler in the unwanted areas.

Hylenex targets the hyaluronan barrier and opens up the lymphatic and capillary vessels. As it does this, the dermal filler that’s causing you problems can be absorbed into your circulation. Keep in mind that hyaluronic acid is a natural ingredient in the body, so it shouldn’t cause any problems when it enters your system.

Because it dissolves the dermal fillers, Hylenex opens up the possibility of having the work redone in a way that better suits you with filler revision.

First, we use Hylenex to dissolve the unwanted filler in the treatment area. However, many of our patients are still unsatisfied with the natural look of their skin as aging takes place. If this is the case, then we can offer a filler revision to plump up the desired areas of the face.

This is a two-step process to eliminate the unwanted filler and then add a new dermal filler to the area. With our expert injectors, we can help you achieve the results that you wanted when you initially had your dermal filler.

There is minimal downtime for these two procedures, making it easy for you to schedule them during busy days.

Filler Correction and Revision Results

If you are ready to sign up for filler correction and revision, you should know what to expect. The results will not be immediate, though they do appear rather quickly. After filler correction, it can take a few days for the hyaluronic acid of your previous filler to break down and re-enter your circulation system.

In the meantime, there will be only minimal social downtime. The specific amount of time it may take depends on the treatment area because some areas are more sensitive than others.

When you have your filler revision procedure, you will again experience minimal downtime. Most people start to see the benefits of their new dose of dermal fillers immediately, though it can take a few days for optimal effects to appear.

Before you get your filler revision, we will take the time to make sure we understand why you were unsatisfied with your earlier treatment. We can evaluate your aesthetic goals, survey the treatment area, and make a completely customized treatment plan just for you. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all treatment.

The good news is that your new dermal fillers should last a long time. Patients tend to love the results that they see with fillers, especially because they can last for one to two years at a time. This will significantly minimize the number of follow-up appointments you have to make to maintain your results.
